DAVE WARNER :: Writer / Composer / Performer

Author of six novels, including the winner of the 1996 WA Premier's Award for Fiction City of Light, and five other non-fiction titles, Dave Warner originally gained national recognition as a musician-songwriter in the late 1970s (Bob Dylan once declared Warner his favourite Australian songwriter). His 8 albums include the gold album Mug's Game and in 1992 he was the inaugural inductee into the WA Rock'n'Roll Hall of Renown. Since quitting full-time rock performing and recording, Dave has written for all media — feature film, stage, television, radio and newspapers. His first feature, CUT, has been sold worldwide and he has a number of other feature film screenplays at various stages of development, including Garage Days — a co-write with director Alex Proyas (I ROBOT / THE CROW / DARK CITY) which screened at Sundance in 2003.

RECENT ACTIVITY::

On the recording front, 2003 saw the fulfillment of a long time recording project involving Sony Music and the AFL, in which Dave and Martin Cilia wrote and recorded tracks for 16 CD singles, one for each AFL club. For 2005 Dave aims to complete the recording of his Rock Musical, Planet Pres with a view to distributing it through schools. Television credits include regular episodes of Australia's No.1 TV drama, McLeod's Daughters, and the short TV feature Roll, directed by award winning Martin Wilson.

Film options on his novels CITY OF LIGHT, EXXXPRESSO and BIG BAD BLOOD have been extended and all have excellent chances
of making the screen in the near future.
